Pastor George J. Fleming
PASTOR George J. Fleming is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Clarion University and has worked in the Human Services field for the past 30 years. At an early age, George realized that he had a compassion for the plight of all people and a desire to serve them. His background in the Human Service field includes several decades of administration and oversight for alcohol, tobacco and other drug treatment, residential group homes, mental health services, reunification services, homeless shelters, mentorship, prevention and consulting services.
Mr. Fleming worked at The Whale’s Tale Youth Shelter program for 20 years, the last five years of that term, he spent as Community Director. In his twenty years of service he worked passionately in various venues. His advancements include: live-in counselor, residential treatment, in-home services with families and, crises intervention. One of his greatest achievements during that time was his development of a Mobile Crisis Response Unit that responds to the needs of individuals in crisis throughout Allegheny County, PA. Mr. Fleming was the Director of Operation Nehemiah (Drug and Alcohol outpatient treatment & In-Home/Reunification Service program) whose services also extended throughout Allegheny County. As the Director of Operation Nehemiah he brought a fresh, new face to recovery and family services.
Mr. Fleming is a founding member of the Hill District Coalition whose primary focus is to bring to light to the plight of urban disparities in treatment for such issues as drug and alcohol education, mental and emotion health and its overall impact on African-American males.
Currently, Mr. Fleming has found his real passion has the Team Lead for Allegheny Family Network’s “Fathers Involved Now Program”. Which helps support and partner with father’s rearing children who have emotional and mental health needs in order to improve their quality of life.
